Tablitas are ceremonial headdresses worn by women during dances. They usually have this stepped design and feature rainbows .. yet another of many silent pleas for moisture from the heavens. This sweet antler maid features a tablita, a body carved of corn and inlay of jet, turquoise, coral and purple oyster shell. She's made by Todd Pancito* who other figures in antler.

* I love our collectors! One of our very well informed, eagle eye collectors wrote to say she believed this was Todd PANcito, not Todd PONCHO. She had other carvings by him that confirmed he truly was the carver. I am grateful for these kinds of interventions. One of my pet peeves has always been misidentification! Thank you for being part of my village!
