This dolomite medicine bear was carved by Julius Yuselew (d.) He was a talented young carver that was really achieving notable popularity within the collecting community when he passed away much, much too soon.

In addition to the "nose to the ground" posture of the bear, he etched the surface of both sides with an elaborate heartline. Medicine bears are called that because of the nose to the ground posture as they are symbolically seeking healing roots and berries. This bear has a beautifully carved face, turquoise inlaid eyes and is signed. A treasure for the collector who remembers the young man who left this world long before he should have.
