Dave and I usually went on buying trips together, but in the early years, since I still had teenagers still in school, sometimes he traveled alone to Zuni. One trip he came back so excited because he had met and had lunch with Thelma Sheche. It was the highlight of his trip! She was utterly charming and he was smitten. Later, I had the opportunity to meet her and she and Sarah conspired to get Dave to marry me - on the spot! It was hilarious watching him squirm. We did not buy directly from the Sheches. I think we bought this one Zuni at one of the trading posts. Since it is signed "TS" .. pretty sure that it was purchased after Aaron passed away.

It's a double wolf (carved from a single stone of serpentine) and was said to be a favorite wedding/engagement/anniversary gift in Zuni. The offering bundle (turquoise, pen shell and coral) is colorful against the darker serpentine. Power symbolism, abundant tradition, highly collectible and beautiful to look at.
