This is another exquisite buffalo carving by Herbert Him. It is finely crafted from black marble, with lots of detail and realism and finished with a nice polish, despite the texture Herbert has skillfully carved.

I'm probably not supposed to have favorites, but I really love this carving. Herbert has etched the head and front quarters to be furry, while the hindquarters are etched, but somewhat smoother. The buffalo has a powerful stance, and a realistic anatomic profile. The eyes are inlaid of turquoise and Herbert has signed carving on the bottom. Privately held in collection since it was purchased twenty some odd years ago. We have another Him buffalo at this link.
