This heron (or crane, as Herbert called it) is made from gold-lipped Mother of pearl and stands on a ricolite base. We bought two of these, one for Dave's dad, and one for my mom while we were going on regular buying trips to Zuni. They each enjoyed them in their homes before they passed away in 2011 and 2015. This is the last of the two.

Herbert told us that he was a member of the Crane clan. Certainly, he had spent some time observing them as his ability to depict them accurately, carved of shell, in a marsh environment is spot on. The shell glistens beautifully in the sunlight .. and it's easy to imagine the cranes around Blackrock Lake hunting in the shallows. Signed on the bottom.
